Parent & Tot Skate (no sticks or pucks) - Monday to Friday 10:00am - 11:00am
Adult & Senior Skate (18+) - Monday to Friday 11:00am-1:00pm
Family leisure skates - Saturday 4:00pm-6:00pm
PUBLIC SKATING POLICIES
Parent & Tot General Rules
1. Eligibility & Supervision
o Children must be supervised by a responsible parent/guardian.
o Skaters must wear skates at all times on the ice surface; no shoes or boots are permitted.
2. Prohibited Activities
o No stick-and-puck play, training with pylons or hockey games are allowed during public skating sessions.
o No roughhousing, horseplay, speed skating, tag, or intentional stopping/sliding that may endanger others.
o No food, drinks, or gum are allowed on the ice surface.
o Only the designated ice surface may be used for public skates as scheduled
3. Safety Equipment & Aids
o Helmets are strongly recommended for all participants, and mandatory for children
o Skating aids may be permitted, provided they are used safely.
4. Flow of Skating
o Skaters must skate in the direction indicated by staff (usually counterclockwise).
o Stopping, standing, or sitting on the ice surface is not permitted. Please move to the boards if you need to rest.
5. Respect & Conduct
o Be respectful of all participants, regardless of age or ability.
o Abusive language, unsafe behavior, or failure to follow staff directions will result in removal from the session.
6. Facility Responsibility
o Pictou County Wellness Centre staff reserve the right to limit numbers on the ice for safety reasons.
o Staff decisions are final to ensure the safety of all skaters
