Community Campaign Launches!
Campaign leadership team announce “stretch” goal of $7.6 million, with $1 million left to go.
On Sunday, September 25th at a family-friendly community event aptly titled, “The Road to Wellness,” volunteer leaders for the Wellness Centre Campaign revealed the project’s progress and plans.
An extraordinary outpouring of support for the Pictou County Wellness Centre campaign has resulted in $6.6 million being raised to date toward the original $7 million fundraising goal.
Committed volunteers and generous donors have been directly responsible for the campaign’s success to date.
With so many others in the community prepared to step up to support the project, the Cabinet announced a “stretch” fundraising goal of $7.6 million. The additional $600,000, above and beyond the original planned $7 million goal, will go directly to providing special enhancements to the project, including:
- A more efficient and sophisticated heat pump system for the complex which will greatly reduce operating costs and be more environmentally friendly ($400,000)
- Low energy, longer lasting LED light fixtures for the external parking lot ($65,000)
- Tables and chairs to enable functions and receptions ($70,000)
- Portable bleachers to enable viewing of swimming events from the main atrium ($5,000)
- Additional equipment for the Wellness Centre’s kitchen facility ($50,000)
The project remains on time and on budget. Realizing the stretch goal of $7.6 million means there is $1 million left to be raised for the Wellness Centre.
