Food and Beverage Supervisor

Pictou County Wellness Centre



Under the direction of the Customer Engagement and Events Manager, the Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for all food & beverage services in the facility, guest services offered within the facility and support for facility events. This includes liaising with caterers and clients for food services in the community rooms, providing high quality service to the VIP suites, day-to-day canteen/concession services and support for the Event Manager. The Food & Beverage Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining the food service areas in a clean and safe condition, supervise part time food & beverage staff, and bartenders as well will provide support to the Events Manager. This individual will be experienced in communication with multiple stakeholders, provide exceptional customer service, enthusiasm and able to represent the Pictou County Wellness Centre with professionalism and a community-minded focus at all times.


Responsibilities & Tasks:


1. Schedule and supervise part-time Food & Beverage staff, including bartenders.

2. Scheduling the hours of operation of the canteen / concession / guest services area.

3. Maintain inventory of stock and ordering of food & beverage products.

4. Review menu for canteen / concession area.

5. Ensure food storage, food preparation and food service policies & procedures are adhered to.

6. Ensure food storage and food service areas are clean and clear at all times.

7. Coordinate and supervise operation of satellite concessions.

8. Monitor dressing room assignments and coordinate key assignments.

9. Liaison with caterers providing service to the community rooms / conference area.

10. In conjunction with the Customer Engagement and Events Manager, coordinate all HR/staffing of the food & beverage service.

11. Coordinate and conduct general food & beverage operations, event support as required and work non-traditional hours to meet the goals and objectives of building operations.

12. Set-up, and tear-down and work various events as event/operational requirements dictate.

13. Respond to the needs of the public and user groups; assist with resolving issues and provide exceptional customer service

14. Ensure all programs and operations are in compliance with regulatory requirements. (WHMIS/OHS)

15. Coordinate and ensure all food & beverage operations meet the needs of the facility and users.

16. Ensure proper operation of POS and debit terminals.

17. Cash-handling, maintaining and adhering to all financial policies and protocols.

18. Other duties as assigned



  • Completion of high school or equivalent
  • Previous food & beverage experience
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal records check
  • Previous food & beverage experience in an arena or multipurpose facility would be an asset
  • First Aid / CPR / AED would be considered an asset
  • Thorough understanding of all applicable laws and codes governing food storage & preparation.
